Alliant Promo

From what I can tell this stuff is RED DOT in burn characteristics but not in weight. So If I am interpreting this correctly there are wide lot to lot inconsistencies in density but as long as you load by weight and check that from jug to jug your using Red Dot for all intents and purposes. For example if I have a load that calls out 3.5 grains of Red Dot I can use 3.5 grains of Promo? ..... Well the price was just too good so I bought an 8lb keg of it. If this isn't correct I hope someone jumps in here before I blow my self up LOL.

I see what you mean about the price. Midway has is $98.99 for 8 pounds which is 12.38 per pound. Way cheaper than I can buy Red Dot.

I could not find the density or VMD of Promo. Lee usually tells the VMD (the inverse of density) of powders in the VMD stuff here:

Anyway, it sounds to me like what you are saying is correct.
