Remington R1 Enhanced 1911
The Remington R1 Enhanced 1911 is a full-size 5 inch match barreled 1911. The one I have here has a very nice smooth black oxidized finish. It also includes a skeletonized match trigger with over-travel adjustment, elevation adjustable rear Novak styled sight, captured fiber optic front sight, fitted match bushing, laminated wood grips, Wilson style beaver tail safety, commander style hammer, checkered metal mainspring housing, and a ribbed front grip, extended magazine release, extended/widened safety. It also comes with two 8 round magazines. The R1 also comes in a Milspec/GI version, but I think for $200 more the Enhanced version is worth what you get.
I had a little less then thirty minutes at the range to shoot before it closed so after shooting a few rounds just to get the feel of it I wanted to shoot it off the sandbags to get a better idea of the accuracy. Below you will see the shoot n see target that was shot at 7yards (13 rounds in that target). You will also see the other standard target which I shot with winchester white box 230gr fmj off sandbags at 7 yards. The middle group measured .071 inches. I have see reports online where they shot an R1 Enhanced out of a Ransom Rest at 25 yards and got 1.5 inch groups. I didnt think I was going to like the fiber optic sight but outside it really lights up and aids in shooting. I put a little over 100 rounds through the gun and did not have a single malfunction. Overall I am pleased with the gun and think the only competition it may have in the price range would be the Ruger SR1911, Springfield Range Officer, Taurus PT1911, and the Kimber Custom II.

Nice looking and working piece...The $200 extra for the bling was well worth it.

Re: Remington R1 Enhanced 1911
I looked at the R1's and heard great things about them, but after shooting a friend's Les Baer PII I knew what I was buying. At that time I was told about 7 to 9 months to order one. I couldn't wait and did quite a bit of searching and found one online with what I wanted on it. I had one in 2 weeks with night sights, I have it since July and have just over 6000 rounds through it. Now after seeing this post I think I might have to look into adding one to my family of 1911's
In my opinion there is nothing better than a sweet shooting 1911. The last few weeks I have had my eye on the STI 1911 in 9mm but I would like to pull the trigger on one before I pull the trigger on owning one.
