T/C Encore test
I recently bought a rifle barrel and stock set for my T/C Encore. The barrel is a stainless 24" standard barrel in 7mm-08. I shot the groups below with a 2-7x32 Nikon Prostaff off sandbags. So far it only has 30 rounds down the barrel. All the rounds have been either new fullsized brass that was renecksized with a lee collet die or it was once fired brass that was just necksized. I noticed that the new brass was .004" out of concentricity but the once fired and necksized came out .002" or less out of concentricity. I did correct all the rounds so they were .002" or less out of round. It seem's both necksized and fulllength seem to shoot the first three rounds into about an inch group. I did notice in "Group 1" that I was not letting the barrel cool down enough and was getting vertical stringing.
My next outing will test the same powders but one group will be full length sized with a Redding body die and necksized on a Lee collet and the other group will be just necksized only. I am also changing out the Prostaff scope and putting on my Leupold VX-3 6.5-20 powered scope to see if that will help shrink my groups down. I am not super impressed with the groups so far but I dont believe I am using optimal powders for this caliber. I only have IMR4350 and W760, but should probably be using medium burnrate powders like Varget, 4064, or 4895.

That new setup is shooting pretty good.

I took it to the range today with my higher powered scope. Best group so far was a hair over an inch. It looks like this gun is averaging 1.5" groupings so far. I did pick up a new jar of 4064 powder so I can test that out too.
