Bedding a rifle stock?
I have never done this before , but going to try it. Does any one have any homemade ideas like what to use for bedding or pillows. I heard of people useing car body filler for bedding can this be done?

Re: Bedding a rifle stock?
i would advise against anything other than the proper bedding compound... it's cheap as it is and other materials, bondo for instance, are not engineered for the use. Bondo is very porous for one and would collect moisture if not sealed... not a good thing for guns rust, warping, etc.
besides... the bedding compound kits can come with instructions and releasing agent ... invaluable for those of us that haven't done it before.

that being said... i think i read about someone's formula for their own bedding compound in one of the GUNSMITH KINKS books... but also remember it not being cost effective...

Bedded several of them. Do not use Bondo unless you like redoing it every time you go shooting.
Spend the extra money, get Acuragel and use it. Very easy to work with and darn near impossible to screw up.
The trick is to take your time and prep things first. Don't rush!
