New Toy to build
Well I've got myself into AR building. Could be a long project this summer for when ever the cash available.

cool....take your time and do it right the first time. I'm bad at rushing into getting things done and then end up changing things later to what I really wanted to begin with.

Hiya Nicnac! Got some questions about these builds. Is there info, publications on 'how to' for them? And is there alot of machining involved?
When they are finished, what do the Feds want in the way of paperwork.
I'm seriously ignorant about them.

as far as info just go to youtube and search how to build ar and you will find plenty of info.
no machining needed
and the only papaer work needed is when you buy the lower nothing else needs any kind of papers what so ever

Re: New Toy to build
Thanks guys. Exactly Wallenba, on a budget and as the left overs of the pay check will allow. This piece is the only thing that the gov. needs paper work for just go to your local gunshop and buy one or get one on the net with FFL paperwork the rest is pay as you build (look on you-tube) as the guys have said. This one may not be done till next spring we'll see.

Re: New Toy to build
I'd love to build an upper myself. Problem is, unless someone rents the tools, they cost... I won't be building enough uppers to justify the tools
for now I am stuck buying complete uppers.....
Are you bulding the upper too NicNac or just the Lower and getting a complete upper?

Now they are not that bad. I have all the tools needed to do a complete build and I didn't pay that much for all of them. Sales are your friend.
Re: New Toy to build
Thats probably true John, I could do some builds for friends and charge them a couple bucks and eventually pay for the tools.

Exactly! Cost of build = 1 AR multi-tool, cost of second build = AR receiver block...and so on.
I get alot of my reloading stuff this way. I reload for a good friend of mine and he repays me with components and the tooling required to reload his stuff.
