Any Savage Experts Around ? Empty Any Savage Experts Around ?

Post by brow_tines Tue Oct 09, 2012 7:43 pm

I just bought a Savage Model 10 in .308 with a internal magazine, accu-trigger ,synthetic stock, 2 swivel studs in the front and a bull barrel. I cant find anything on just a Model 10 there is always letters after the 10, it has a black bolt if that makes a difference. Any help or ideas ?

Sounds like a Model 10fp...is that what you wanted to know?

It should also have a matte finish instead of glossy or smoother bluing.

Nice rifle! really not all that different than my Model 12fv, except for the finish and caliber...since the "v" stands for varminter.

Yep, thank you that's it. It has less than a hundred rounds put throw it, and he bought it new Very Happy And after a really really good cleaning it looks new. So why don't they put the fp behind the 10 on the barrel ?

Because Savage uses the same barrels on multiple models and variations...

The same exact barreled action in a wood stock or different finish would have a completely different letters behind the "10"....like a bp, or something like that.

So really the only differences between all the models and designations is the finish(or material), barrel type and stock type....and sometimes other minor things like oversized bolt handle, removable mags, different weight trigger settings or factory package deal( rifle, scope, sling)

i have a early savage FP series which was called the 110 FP. the difference between the 110 FP and the 10 FP is that the 110Fp uses a long action with a block for the shorter .308 cartridge. the 10 FP is actually a short action. i have over a 1,000 rounds through mine and it is still a tack driver. but then i use Moly coated bullets and this rifle has never seen a naked bullet. you will be happy with yours. if your going to shoot naked bullets get your self some Sweet's 7.62 for copper removal.
