My Goddaughter's first buck
This is my Goddaughter's Britt's first buck with rifle. Sorry about her dad's finger in the photo we were a little excited. Dropped with her Rem 700 in 7mm-08 at about 60 yards.
Those of you in the South might see this picture because her dad has submitted to just about every hunting magazine and publication in country. He is rightfully proud of his daughter.

Re: My Goddaughter's first buck
That's a real nice 8pt. Great Job Britt!!
I really like the fact that she's not all dolled up with make up and a manicured professional paint job on her fingernails like the female hunters you see on TV. They all look like they just stepped out of She Safari Fashion Magazine.
Britt looks like she meant business when she went to the woods that day, and it appears that she took care of business and quite well at that!
What state is that in? The background looks alot like where I hunt here in Missouri............hey wait a minute! Did she shoot my buck?!?!

Re: My Goddaughter's first buck
She took the buck in Oklahoma during the first rifle buck season. I'd have to ask her dad where that lake is again. He told me where we were at, but I forgot.
She lives in OKC with her dad, but I forgot where we were hunting as the night before her dad and I got a little lit which explains our poor performance the following day.
Britt is a bit of a tomboy and has never been a "girly girly" but she has enough sense to go hunting not all made up.
Buck is at the taxidermists now. Her dad told her that if she shot a bigger buck than his, then hers gets the place of honor over the mantle and the fireplace.
Moved Mike's old buck, and they have a sign taped to the wall that says "Reserved for Britt's buck."
BTW it greenscored at 151 B&C by an OK dept of wildlife officer.

Re: My Goddaughter's first buck
I can't say exactly where we were hunting because it appears to be a family secret, but it was North East Oklahoma not too far from Bartlesville.
My buddy intends to guide deer hunters in the area after he retires from the Navy so he is being cadgey about the area.
Mike says he saw the deer during bow season but could not get a shot at it and is pleased his daughter was able to harvest it.

that is close enough for me, just curious about the region..... family secret hunting grounds are sacred and I would hate for you to be excommunicated from the family....hehehe

Re: My Goddaughter's first buck
I grew up in the west, so getting to go east to chase those big white tail deer is a real treat.
When Mike comes here I take him to my secret slough to shoot ducks & geese so we trade back & forth.
First time I was ever able to shoot a doe was with him back in Oklahoma. Real good eating!!
