Re: Scouting
Did some scouting on the 1st day of September - hunting season opener.
The state with some porkulus money from the Fed repaired part of the road. Much of it is still washed out and the state folks say unless they get more $ from the Fed not likely to get the rest of the road fixed ever.
Lots of prime hunting land back there - good for the folks that are sound of body & limb. While I like having large areas closed to drive-by poachers, I wish there were more areas open to us disabled hunters. Before I got sick I would have shouldered a full pack and hiked in the back country & hunted back were very few people ever travel.
The state did get to replace and repair one of the three washed out bridges. Part of the problem is that diesel fuel has nearly doubled in cost since the estimates were submitted.
Money that was supposed to fix all 24 miles of this road, could only repair the first 12.5 and only replace one bridge. At least the timber companies are happy that they can get accross the river now with the log trucks.

Re: Scouting
Got these on my trail camera when I pulled the card the other day. First pic is 1 big doe by herself...............or just the only deer in the frame? Then the next pic looks like 4 does in the background and one in front, but after zooming in on the ones in the background I think there are actually 6 does because there appears to be a couple standing behind the others so that would be 7 does in the pic. I don't know if there are more that aren't in the frame or not, but I suspect there could be?
I also saw a small 5pt. buck and 2 does this morning while squirrel hunting. I'm gonna check my camera again today and see if I have any new pics and I'll post them later if I do.
Looks like it might be a good deer season this year.

Re: Scouting
Yep, and the first one that gets close enough is gonna go in the freezer. I ain't playin around this year cause it will be my first year hunting with a traditional bow entirely and I'm working full time plus overtime now so my hunting time will be severely limited. I gotta go every waking minute I have when I don't have to work so all season long will be like crunch time, and nothing gets a free pass unless it's a small buck. Even then he better not hang around too close for too long or I might break my own rule.RichBirdHunter wrote:Looks like a freezer full, yum yum
