Bino's?
Binoculars, Good subject to debate!
I am planning a Antelope hunt in Oct. in Wyo and a Cow elk hunt in Wyo in Dec.with more Wyo Elk hunts in the continued future. So I am looking to upgrade the Bino's that I currenttly own (Nikon Buckmaster 8x36) I have been looking at these Vortex Vipers HD's

Not sure yet as to which focals, I need to look thru them and do the touchy feely thing.
Anyone have any input to other brands. I look to spend in the $600 range cause this could and should be my last pair I ever buy. (unless I loose them, [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.])

Re: Bino's?
Do them "Vortex Vipers HD's" have a built-in rangefinder ?
Will you be shooting farther than you can see ?
*Also them Elk are kinda like white-tail , they have this gland that run's along their spine ,that will sour the meat ... you should carefully remove it ,put it on ice , then mail it to me for proper disposal

I picked up a pair of Swarovski 10x40 with a range finder. Super clear, but really pricey

I bought a set of these a while ago and they work well. I use them for hunting here in ID. They are cheaper then the set you listed but do a good job for me.

They come in realtree if you want it also.

Re: Bino's?
My Grandpa just got the Monarch 5's, I thought they were really nice. However, Binoculars are one of those things you really need to see for yourself what looks good.
A couple months ago I went to Cabelas and the $200 Redfield was clearer IMO than the $500 Vortex and Nikon.
I generally like to be in the 10-12x, but all the Wyoming hunters I know like 8x for elk hunting to get a wider field of view.
If you need a Wyoming guide I can recommend a great one.

Yeah I agree. The best pair I have is an old sears set from the sixties. Made of metal and stayed aligned for 50 years.

Re: Bino's?
I went with the 10x42's in Viper HD's. Man are these babies Crystal, The HD's are real good with the low light and colors. I would defintly recomend these to those that are looking for HD Binoculars.
+1 for Vortex again. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Re: Bino's?
31oz vs 24.8oz for the Vortex. They are rather heavy, I did look at the thou. And yes I did consider all the savings and extras.

Ive got a 30.00 pair of bushnells. Auto focus. Works great (50-70 yards hunting is my max in these thick woods LOL)
