Sako Empty Sako

Post by RemMan700 Thu Dec 02, 2010 11:24 am

Has anyone own or ever shot an Sako rifle? I am thinking about getting a Sako 85 Bavarian for my next deer rifle. Just wondered if they were worth the high price.

They say opinions are like rear holes every one has one. lol! Sako makes first rate stuff. I have owned a couple Sako rifles they were very high quality. better than Remington some would say hands down personally for me its hard to beat the 700 action. My Mosin Nagant is a sako it is high quality for what it is. Lets just say you cant go wrong with a Sako but I dont know if I was as proud of mine as Sako was LOL

I have a tikka t3 in 270 it's the entry level model. It works better and smoother then my rem 700. No offence RemMan 700 I'm sure your very smooth. : Laughing But if the Sako is better then the Tikka you will be happy

My buddy has a sako 30-06 and I have fired a few times.... but really I could not tell much of a difference between that and my HOWA 1500 in 30-06, and the howa is less expensive.. but the important thing is how it feels to you....

My father has a 222rem CMC Mountaineer/Howa and my uncle has a Sako vixen 222rem . Strange thin about these rifles is that one cost $700 and one cost $1200 and to look at there is 5/8 of fark all difference in the two to the point that even the bolts are interchangeable.
So if you want to spend the extra and get bugger all more than the hot little Remington 700 you have go for it but I have seen it and would be keeping the bloody thing.

No it will be a while before I get one. I am going to have to look into this deal of it being the same rifle as the Howa. I do know that the Weatherby Vanguard and the Howa 1500 are the same rifle.

FYI: I've heard that Weatherby's, especially the Vanguard, have very long throats, even worse than Remington.
