Old faithfull went down today.
So we were working on the gadwalls pretty well this morning. I had fired several shots, and everything was going great. We had to move out of the nice heated blind to get where they wanted. Once we got the boat buried in the phragmites we bailed out and tucked up next to a couple of muskrat huts. Damn it was nice, birds droppin in like lawn darts right into our massive spread of 4 decoys we quickly threw out. A nice bunch was gettin' right, we drew down and i fired once, bang....pulled the trigger again..nothing!
when i went to asses the situation i could hear loose metal in the receiver Apparently the setscrews on the ejector were loose and had grooved the metal on the receiver enough to come out.
Part #28 <-----link
Fortunately i had already lined up a trade with one of the local police who moonlights as an armorer, a few hunts for a duracaot job. I think all he'll have to do is drill out the holes a bit more to get the set screw a little deeper.
So hopefully it should be an easy fix. He's gonna blast it and get the base coat on tonight. Hopefully by Saturday she'll be throwing steel again with a new look. Ill post some pics when i get it back, its going be painted "Bart'o'flage" with a polished bolt.
Later,
Brian

what sucks worse is the fact it was in a hunt.....
I hate that ready...... aim..... click...... that makes me crazy....
I used to have an old Mossberg, that I said a quick prayer every time before I pulled the trigger.....
I always wanted a bennelli

I didnt even get the satisfaction of a click Plus i almost fell forward into the water when the second shot didnt happen.
Flinch much?
Ya, but what really suck was that i decided not to bring my video camera. It would have been a perfect opportunity to get some good footage.Bones wrote:thats a bummer but glad to hear its already getting fixed.

Hate to hear about the mishap.... I can see you leaning forward and stumbling almost falling in. Man that would have been cold!! It is 27 degrees here right now.
Sounds like your having a better season this year than last year. I finally got me a 12 gauge Rem 870 express super magnum... So far I like it. No water fowl for me to shoot here, but it should do well for deer and turkey....
