Taurus 24/7 OSS 45ACP Empty Taurus 24/7 OSS 45ACP

Post by fusil56300 Mon Dec 20, 2010 3:50 pm

Bonjour tout l'monde,
well I'm still looking for the perfect 45, thats within my budget!!!

Its down to:
Taurus 1911-1000€ about $1350 scratch
Taurus 24/7-800€ about $1000 scratch
S&W M&P-900€ about $1150 scratch

I've shot the 9mm M&P and 24/7. Nice guns, I like the Taurus more.
My shooting bud has just bought a PT1911, very nice.

What do you'all think? feedack

Since I'm still not totally convinced plastic guns will last as long as metal ones...I'd have to go with the PT1911.

But If you are going to carry it around( I'm not up on French CCW laws)...the others will be a lot lighter.

I don’t think you can go wrong with an M&P or a 1911. I’m not sure about the 24/7, I would like to know if they’re good guns or not. I guess a new compact 24/7 is coming out soon, which looks really good compared to the normal 24/7. There is also the new PT840 and PT845 models which look a lot like the 24/7's... Or you can go Glock.

Salut badjeep02,
I need it to shoot lead...so a Glock is a no go.
I shot my friend Taurus 1911 this morning and I love it.

Also seen a Ruger P90 DC 45ACP, used but in A1 condition.
So many guns, not enough money. Very Happy

Salut fusil56300,

if you are in love with the Taurus 1911 you have to buy it.
For me there's is only one love...Glock for ever (lead bullet with aftermarkt barrel) but you have to decide.
You have to shoot and love a gun before buying, don't matter what other say.

I have a 24/7 OSS Tactical in my collection. It shoots accurate. I had to hold the sights at 12:00 position at 15 yards, but I was using cheap ammo.
I did get 1 inch groupings with cheap ammo. This gun likes hot .45 rounds.
FYI: while it is a good gun, Taurus resale value is not good here in the U.S.. If you want to ever resell it, you will get about 60% of what you purchase a new one for in the U.S. In the U.S., they are almost half that price of $1000 new (sorry). I did a review of this gun. Let me know and I will email it to you.

How’s the trigger on that 24/7? I’ve looked at a few but the price was a little too good. I wasn’t sure if they were good guns or not.

Whoa, first time I ever hear someone say a price was too good LOL...Don't own one personally, yes, I have shot one many a times. This is also going to be one of them (I have a few friends that....) type of deal....

They are great guns. I wouldn't hesitate getting one at all....

What kinda of price was Tooo Goood??

I have an Ruger P90 , I have never had any problems with jams or misfires. It will feed solids or hollow points. I hope whatever you purchase ,
will suit your needs. And good luck.

i now have 3 24/7 taurus pistols...9mm,.45 and i just got a .40 ... the .45 and .40 are both pro's while the 9mm is a long barrel...i paid $350.00 for the pro's and $375 for the 9mm...as far as im concerned u cant beat them for the money....9mm has had roughly 10k rounds shot thru it..and still functions flawlessly....45 with 160 gr. cast lead bullets and 4.0 gr bullseye will shoot a golfball size hole at 25 yds.. as many rounds as u want to shoot into the hole !
9mm shoots a little better but is very picky of the bullet (cast) i just got the .40 and have only shot 200 rounds thru it so far, have not worked up a good load yet ,(still tryin to find a hp .40 cal mold).....i love my 1911's but for just plinking and banging metal i like the mag capacity of the 24/7's... just my .02 worth...bill

Did you mean a 1000 rounds or really 10,000? Puts me to shame. Yeah the 24/7’s go for about $320-350 around here. I think that’s a little cheap for a 45acp, but I have not fired a 24/7 before. I have tried one of the new PT840’s. Not very impressive.

yes thats 10,000 rounds, thats an average of 100 rounds every weekend, but sometimes i shoot more, alot more and sometimes i shoot less....since i quit shooting ipsc i have really slacked off shooting...used to kill steel plates and poppers for an hour or 2 every evening all year long...
