Post by XbonesX Thu Jan 06, 2011 3:10 pm

I have had a request recently for the contents of my Bug Out Bag (B.O.B.) or Shit Hits the Fan (SHTF) bag, whatever you want to call it. I know everyone has their take and hopefully some people will add theirs as well. Mine is not complete by any means, but it has the basics.

This is a grab and go bag, not a food storage or 72 hour kit.

Pistol with 2-4 loaded mags
First Aid/Med kit, Quik-clot and/or tampons, mole skin, Deat, Chapstick
Batteries (AA, AAA, CR123)
Fire starter, lighter, windproof matches, Vaseline covered cottonballs
Katadyn Water Filtration Unit, purifying tablets, survival straw
pens, pencils, markers
gerber saw combo, knife, leatherman, wire saw
flashlight
signal mirror
space blanket, wool blanket
Extra socks

Bug Out Bags Empty Re: Bug Out Bags

Here’s a request for a first-aid kit. Something small I can through in my range bag or keep in the glove compartment of my car. I’ve made a few small ones but I’d like to know what other people use. The store bought ones kind of suck. I’d like a kit that would handle slide bite to minor zombie bites.

If you have a bug out spot and you have kids take them there to "play" so they are happier in a (SHTF) ordeal

yeah but my take on the BOB is a bag of goodies to get you to a pre-determined shelter area that you will have a cache of food, water, toys etc.....

As far as first aide kits they can be small.... to stop bleeding is a must in the field and control shock till medics can get you or them out..... so a few trauma bandages, mixed in with some triple antibiotic ointment and band -aides are all you really need for most situations.... Do not forget gloves and PPE blood and body fluids are nasty business..... but your medic kits can get massive like the one I use as a medic it weighs 50+lbs and it is all medical (no room for skivies or socks).... not what a guy would want in the field.... in a SHTF situation...

I will look through my Pack, which I usually keep packed to grab and go.... not really a BOB but sometimes a spur of the moment camping or fishing or hunting trip comes up and I gotta go....

My grandfather always taught me the more you know the less you need to carry and the older and wiser you get in the woods the smaller your knives become.... boy is the second one is true.... I used to carry a cold steel trailmaster, then went to a cold steel recon scout both heavily modified by me of course.... and now I carry a medium to smaller knife I made out of an old file, and a leatherman....
