I think you would ruin it. I just got a deep fryer from bass pro shop for $30.00 I can put a Dutch oven on it and it has plenty of heat

Re: fry daddy deep fryer??
I agree, I don't think it woud get hot enough besides being teflon coated and I don't think that would be good.
+1 on the propane cook stove. I use my little 2 burner camp stove with the small propane cylinders and a stainless tumbler from Walmart to melt my lead in for casting. The tumbler is in the kitchen section and it's like one that you would put flour or sugar in with a glass lid, the kind that sits on your counter top.
I smelt my WW's on the big gas fish cooker, but do my casting on my little 2 burner camp stove and it's plenty hot.........sometimes maybe too hot?

Re: fry daddy deep fryer??
the one i saw was not teflon coated it was just a metal liner i was just thinking that i could save alot of money not only on propane but the fry daddy is 13 dollers cheaper than the cook stove just an idea if it want work im better of spendin the 32 than spending 20 and ruining it then spending 32 anyways!

Re: fry daddy deep fryer??
From my understanding not only will it not get hot enough but once it hits the temp it shuts off until it dropsbelow the temp the kicks back on. So it would not bea constant steady heat source....

Re: fry daddy deep fryer??
Do not use the fry daddy, even if it did get hot enough....aluminum isn't strong enough to hold molten lead. Stick to cast iron....that's your best bet.
You might be able to use one to melt a wax mix for lubing....as long as you can adjust the temp to a low enough setting.

+1 on cast iron.......the only way to go. Check at yard sales, flea markets, and antique shops for a cast iron pot that's where I got mine and my corn ingot pan. $10 bucks for the pot and $8 bucks for the corn ingot pan.

Re: fry daddy deep fryer??
LOL yea man I am sure. I would not offer it if I wasn't. Right now I am not casting anything as of yet. The wife and I are still up to our necks in paper work trying to get this store open. Got a few more jumps and hurdles to go through.
Let me check, I think I may still have some ingots made up. I have been meaning for the past months to smelt more with my free time. Free time I no longer have LOL..
