Firearm magazines Empty Firearm magazines

Post by badjeep02 Wed Feb 23, 2011 9:51 pm

Hey guys, I was wondering if everyone subscribes to a gun magazine worth looking into. My "Guns Magazine" subscription is about up and I want to know if everyone here has a mag they would recommend. I've tried "Guns&Ammo" and "Shooting Times". I get the "Rifleman" and like it better than the other two.
Anyway let me know if you subscribe to one you really like. study

I think I have it figured out now. All FMG Publications mags have a free online digital edition. So go to here:

http://www.fmgpublications.com/

Then click on "Digital Editions" and follow your nose.

Shooting Times is more technical than Guns&Ammo. ST will actually use terms like standard deviation. And ST will have more info on ballistics and metallurgy.

Thanks for the freebies tip Ed!
I too am getting burned out on all my subscriptions. I started letting them run out one by one, it just seems like the same old dribble being repeated over and over again. Rarely does something new come out that hasn't been done before, or that I don't already know.........which is often times more than the author.

I mostly get Hunting publications and I've even written several articles for Fur Fish and Game magazine, which is still one of my favorites.
I still get American Hunter, but only because I belong to the NRA and sometimes it has a couple decent articles in it, but nothing I would consider new or ground breaking.

Maybe I expect too much, or I'm just getting burned out on everything?

Maybe I should get a subscription to Hustler or Penthouse instead? Darn Shocked Cool

A few years ago I tried going to the web site of each manufacturer of guns and ammo and reloading stuff and signing up for email updates. I thought I would get a few emails every now and then whenever they introduced something new. And I thought then I would quit the paper magazines I was subscribing to. But I got very few emails from this. I got a few from Federal. I am thinking about doing this again. Maybe more manufactures offer this service now. Anybody else tried this?

I haven't tried it for hunting / shooting. It looks like they would be eager to get the latest information out. I made the mistake of signing up for several of the IT and Networking newsletters and whitepapers on my work account and haven't found a way to shut them off yet. I get as many as 5 a day from some of the sites. Needless to say I've gotten real good at bulk deleting emails - oops, I think I deleted a service call too Twisted Evil

If you want to try Handloader magazine this guy on Gunbroker is selling a few back issues for $2 each. Plus Shipping charges.
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/SellerAuctions.aspx?User=77348

Here is the auction as of today:
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=219606648

When that auction expires you can find it by the auction name. The name is
Back Issues Handloader Magazine 1977-2001

I may buy what you leave, but go ahead if you want to buy them all. I have had my chance.
