Re: IMR 8208
Hey Travis, glad you made it over here...good to have ya with us!
I've been threatening to try the 8208 but I've still got plenty of Varget left, so when that runs out I might give it a try.
From what I've read it is suppose to work for just about any caliber, but don't they say that about all new powders? It's the best thing to come along since canned soup and sliced bread.....
Seriously though, I have read some good reviews about it and I'm kinda anxious to try it out.

Re: IMR 8208
Love it. I use it in .223 with great results. Will shoot it when the weather gets good in my .308 Savage.
The .243 cal they will not provide info for because the powder is too fast. Go figure.

Re: IMR 8208
I have used IMR 8208 in my .25-06 AI but I prefer somewhat slower powders since I have a 28" Shilen tube that lets me stuff slower powders in the case.
Accuracy was about on par with Varget, and H4895 which is my usual powder in my .25-06 AI. H4831SC has been fair in the .25-06AI which was interesting since my 6.5-284 loves it.
Have been wanting to use A4350, Retumbo and RL22 as well in my .25-06 AI.

Re: IMR 8208
I just went to the range and shot XBR8208 in my .308. My best group .340" using 40gr and 150gr Sierra SPFB. I shot 4 other groups and did 41, 42, 43, 44 grains. They all hung in the .970-1.02" range.

Re: IMR 8208
Ok, old thread, I know. I was wondering what the general concensus was on this powder since it has been out a couple of years. I normally use IMR4895 for 30-06 and 30-30 but haven't been able to find any locally in the past several months. I certainly don't want to order it online and have to pay the haz-mat. The guy at the sports shop swears this is all he will use fron now on so I bought a pound of it to try. Is it clean burning or is it temp sensitive?

Re: IMR 8208
Thanks BWM. According to the burn rate charts that I've seen, it is just a tad faster than H4895. Hodgdons load data on the website list a load for both 30-30 ( start 30.0 to max 32.0) and the -06 (start 47.0 to max 50.0). Hopefully I can load up some test rounds before long and see how its going to perform.
