Spring pest control
I got my first pest of the year
These little buggers are running rampant outside the shop and creating all kinds of damage to the landscape and are good at excavating pea gravel out from under the sidewalks too. So I brought in my AR-22 as I do every year to clean house. Right now the adults are not out much since they have their nests built....but I got this one after a fresh mow.
I use Remington Sub sonics to keep the noise levels down. I used to nail them with the 17 Mach 2's....those will split ground squirrels in half.
About a 60 yard take down.

Re: Spring pest control
#2 for the day. It was out at about 75 yards....it took 2 shots to get him.
It looks as if I might have grazed this guy before...there is a patch you can just see on his back that is missing fur and has scared over. about the width of a 22 bullet.

I usually get about 20 per year out there...I think they reproduce faster than I can reload.

We don't have a lot of crows around here.....shame too...I hate crows, and love to shoot them
They might attract some possum or yotes though...

I wish you could send one of those to me so I could taxidermy it. I highly doubt the mailman would be too happy though when the box started to stink.

I suppose it could be packed in dry ice....
My thoughts on crows....
1) they are loud and obnoxious and continuously have run on of the mouth.
2) they are lazy and take what they can steal or scavenge from something else.
3) They are always in packs(flocks)...never will you see a solo crow.
4) there is always one "look out" ready to warn the others.(shoot this sob first )
5) they pester larger birds like eagles and hawks...courage must come in numbers with them. A crow will never pester a eagle or hawk by itself.
hmmmm.....sounds like a bunch of LA gang bangers to me.

Re: Spring pest control
Usually when I want to and have the means to kill a crow I am hunting something else and don't want to screw up my hunting. Crows are either extremely smart or extremely lucky.
