Frankford Arsenol DS-750 Scale Empty Frankford Arsenol DS-750 Scale

Post by eagle60 Sat Mar 05, 2011 11:42 pm

Has anyone had any experience with this Frankford Arsenol electronic scale? My Lee beam scale doesn't go high enough to weigh my cast boolits so I thought I would try it out. It has about the highest review rating as far as the cheap scales go. The only thing I don't think I will like about is the 60 second shut off and it would be nice if it had an ac adapter also but for a cheap scale doesn't look too bad. I ordered one tonight so I guess I'll find out. Thought I would see what you all thought of it. If I had my druthers, It would have been the rcbs 750 but the wallet dictates otherwise Crying or Very sad

I got one. I like it. I use it a lot. But it is not accurate to a tenth a of a grain. If you weigh something that is 20 grains it may show 19.9 or 20.1 grains when you weigh it again. But at that price that is close enough for me.

If close enough is good enough then buy, buy, buy!! If not wait and save, you have waited this long what 6 or 8 more months?

I would have felt a little better if it had been on sale. I'm getting itchy to load some of the cast boolits from the home made mold and don't have any way to weigh them. I've had one of the cheap, el cheapo digital scales before and it was terrible. It lasted about 5 months before it went to electronic heaven..

I have one of the scales that I got from Midway on sale, and I have to say my initial impression was wrong.

I expected a cheap POS that would not be too accurate. While it's accuracy is not all that great for rough, quick weights it is a great little scale if gnat's ass accuracy is not important.

The 60 second shut off is irritating and if I forget to take the battery's out sometimes it eats a pair of pretty little button batterys.

I have been impressed with it despite its short-comings is a great little scale. I too wish it had an AC adapter but I have a very accurate Dillon scale with AC adapter that is very accurate that I use if I need.

I use the scale sometimes where I do not desire to risk a heavier and expensive scale like at gun shows and swap meets.

Thanks folks, I guess I'll find out when it gets here. I'm somewhat encouraged by the comments so maybe it works out ok.

I’ve been through 3 of Lyman’s scales so far. I think I’ve set a record with them.

I had 1 Lyman electronic scale, what a POS. Returned it for the RCBS Chargemaster, that was DOA, exchanged it and now I couldn't be happier.

+1 for the chargemaster....but unless one falls from the sky and onto your bench, they are pretty salty.

I agree with Hawcer, the Chargemaster is pricey. My big electronic Dillon scale set me back a few pennies, and it only gets used rarely these days as it eats up too much room on the bench.

Now that I am no longer shooting F class rifle, I guess I do not really need the scale, but I keep it in case I need it.

Finally got the scale here, and so far have been mildly surprised. Weighed one boolit 10 times and got the same weight every time. The paperwork on it said that it had a 120 second shutoff instead of a 60 second. I haven't tested that yet but if true will make me like it even more. It has accomplished the task that I wanted it for in that I found out that the cast bullets out of the diy mold averaged 132.4 grains. It weighed a factory 125 gr jacketed bullet at 125.2 gr so I am reasonably confortable with it.

Thanks again for all the input fellas.
