Berger Hunting VLD's
Has anyone use the Berger Hunting vld bullets in big-game such as deer and or elk?
I am looking at the 168gr's for my .280.
What I am wondering about is performance such as overall weight retention?

It's a great product, the factory is about 10 min from my house and they gave me a tour about 9 months ago. They don't sell 2nds just top rate stuff. It's a nice small company

Couldn't get these bad boy's to fly the way I want them to. (not very good flock flyers) Soooo, I have put them on the shelf for now. I did also load up some of the 160gr Nosler Accubonds and them bad boys know how to fly in groups.

I didn't have much success with the VLD's either. I believe I was told that you have to seat them far out and as close to the lands as possible.

Yup, tried that. My mag wouldn't allow them to extend out to far thou. Could have been the problem.

"Large diameter bullets provide more stability, as the larger radius provides more gyroscopic inertia, while long bullets are harder to stabilize, as they tend to be very backheavy and the aerodynamic pressures have a longer "lever" to act on."
