Berger Long Range Target 175gr in .308 Win Load Suggestions
I just picked up some Berger's 175 grain BT Target Long Range (pn 30420). I have zero experience with either 175's or Berger Bullets. And, as I'm sure many know already, reloading manuals are of little help when it comes to Berger's. So have any of you loaded Berger's? If so, what starting loads do you think my Model 10 Savage will like? Just looking for a reasonable starting point. I've got Varget, XBR, etc to play with.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I don't have any info on Bergers either ...but I did find this. I hope it helps
I'd send them the list of powders you have to use also.
Q: Where can I get loading data for Berger Bullets?
A: Our loading manual will be available soon. In the meantime, then you can email your cartridge and bullet data to bergerltd@aol.com or to anyone at Berger Bullets listed on our Contacts page. Starting and maximum loads will be emailed back to you.

Hey Mike, long time no see. Did you already blow through all your Hornady Custom ammo?
either of those powders will work great. I would just take my favorite loading manual and substitute the 175gr bullet data for your Berger.
Berger & Barnes tend to be VERY long compared to other bullet manufacturers, so don't let the OAL confuse you. Seat them out as far as you can, preferably .010 off the lands and grooves but whatever will still fit in your box magazine.
Post any questions you have on the forum for others as well, but also feel free to call me.

ditto on the .010 off the lands thats where my 10 likes them.. i use rl-15
i cant remember the weight and im on the road atm... i use the 168 gr hunting vld pills...just be carefull as was stated they are very long bullets, so another bullet of the same weight might not be a compressed load but a berger will be !!
i had trouble with a couple of powders not being able to get enough into the casses without compressing the powder real bad....a slight compressed load is ideal imho....good luck with them...bill

Hey T! Thanks for the suggestion. Naw, I still have a full case of the Nosler......damn it But I've been reading all sorts of good stuff about the Berger's so I thought I'd give them a go. Gotta have something to fill up those soon to be empty Nosler cases. I know they are long. But unlike the Sierra Match King, I don't think I'm gonna need to trim them. I'm still waiting for an e-mail back from Berger's head of ballistics on a starting point, too.
And as an aside. (And since It's my thread, I'm gonna semi-hijack it.) I just got my Glow Ammo kit. I've loaded 9mm, 7.62x39, .38, .45 and .308 rounds for an up coming night shoot. I'll post a video latter.

43.6 grains of Varget, 175 grain bullet 2.815 COAL gives 2652 fps at 54000 PSI
this load is the one that I use with SMK, I am still working with it. I am also using 43.1 RL15 to duplicate the M118LR round, also working with 4064 as well
Load them .010 off the lands for starters and work from there

Please elaborate on the Glow Ammo Kit if you would, I have never read or saw one before..........since you mentioned it you have me intriqued.
I don't have anything to offer on the Bergers, I only shoot Nosler and Hornady bullets and a few Sierras.

Mo,
Here's the link. http://www.glowammo.com/Demo_Videos.html Rob at the Reloading Podcast interviewed Brian on the show a few month ago. I'll be shooting some Feb 5th here on Los Angeles. I'll post a video on Youtube after I'm done. I'll be shooting 9mm, .38 Spl, .45ACP, 7.62x39 and .308 so we'll see how it performs. I'm excited. Especially if it works as expected.......

You should make a video of the process too.

That would be cool.........and I don't consider myself a leader. I'm more of a survivor.

I produced a short video on how to apply the Glow Ammo markers (AKA: Stickers). (Not by best work, but hey it's a start...)

Start a new thread on Glow Ammo! The dial on the cool meter is way to the right!
Any chance they will gunk up my gun or be corrosive?
Do gun ranges object to them?
How have I lived this long without them?
I see MidwayUSA has Glow Ammo. Is that where you got yours?
