.30-30 questions Empty .30-30 questions

Post by RemMan700 Thu Oct 04, 2012 8:21 am

I have a few questions for y'all about .30-30 reloading. I will be reloading for an old Marlin 336 that is pre-microgroove rifling and has ballard or button cut rifling.

-How many times does it seem that you can full length resize before your brass is bad?
-What are some good go to powders for .30-30
-Has anyone used the Hornady Flex Tip bullets and the Hodgdon LeverRevolution powder yet?
-If just reloading regular roundnose or flatnose bullets what size do you think is better 150gr or 170gr, or is it a toss up?

I wish I could answer your question on how many times for the brass but I just cant I have some that I know I have over 15 loads on them and still no signs of fatigue.
Powders that I have used and absolutely love is 4350. Pm me for exact amounts as it is a compressed load and my absolute favorite.

but all around powder to go to for almost everything is 3031

I swage my own 30-30 bullets so never used the flex tips and honestly a 30-30 lever is a great gun but not a match rifle so I used to just use remington and winchester rn bulk bullets.

The 150gr Hornady Flex Tip bullets work great.

IMR4895 and 150gr Remington pills work well for me. They have brought quite a few critters home. Can't say about the longevity of the brass, I have some on the 4th rotation and still no signs of any problems.
