Trimming brass for jackets
I started using a new method for cutting down the 40 S&W brass for jackets. I picked up the Lee 3 jaw universal chuck and drill stud. I found an old tubing cutter and slide that over the brass till the side of the cutter touches the chuck. Hit the trigger and get a very even and nice cut. No additional trimming on the case trimmer needed to even out the mouth of the brass. Actually saves time over the little HF saw.
The black on the cut down case is just marring from the rollers on the tube cutter

That's what I've been doing for years to cut down rifle brass for "other" uses. It works great doesn't it.

I wish Tommy had that in one of his videos when I first started. It is much easier.

Re: Trimming brass for jackets
I used it in one of my vids a long time ago. I was converting 308 blanks to usable cases...so you probably never saw it,LOL.
I use the same converting 223 brass to 300AAC blackout. Much faster and less wear and tear on the case trimmer. Of course I still use a case trimmer for final trimming

Using these for jackets on my 44's I am done with the trimming process as soon as I drop them from the chuck. Anneal brass and squish lead.

Re: Trimming brass for jackets
Sorry Ben, I am not sure what you are asking here. If you are asking what I am using the cut down 40 S&W for, I use them as jackets for 44 mag bullets in my swaging operation.
