New Rifle

Here is a new rifle I put together.  I started with a Howa barreled action - 24" #6 varmint barrel - .308 win.   I bedded the action in to a Bell & Carlson stock and then bedded a 20MOA scope base to the top of the action.  So far I have only put 20 breakin rounds through it, the last 5 rounds grouped 1.1 moa including a flyer.  I have yet to do any load development but I am expecting good results when I start down that road.  The down side is that my cleaning rod hits the butt stock & I need to put something on for an elevated cheek piece so I have a more consistent sight picture.

Very nice. I love the look of the stock.

I shot up a bunch of loads I had laying around to build up some fire formed brass for load development.  Every time I shoot the gun I like it better and better.

That first group looks great. That second group looks like you had some vertical stringing going on.

Maybe stringing. Maybe it was just me. I was throwing lead down range fast just to fire form the cases. The top group was varget & the bottom was TAC which is maybe a little more temp sensitive?
