considering the extra work it takes to put a cap on the bottom.. i think it would be better to use the soft point swag bullet for targets. being that they are the easiest to make. when doing target rounds, you want something ultra easy to make so you can make a TUN of them.

thanks.. its about a years worth of progress all in one picture.

though, the same process could be done for other cal's as well.
my main goal is to be able to make bullets for every cal i have..
danziger has the same goal as well.

so far, i only have 1 cal left, and daywalker is working on a die for that one.. the great 308! cal.

the trick is to find a case sizing die that has a shoulder the same size as the cal bullet you want to make.

rifle, 300-400 is a little harder to do, due to the size of the bullet being smaller than most case's out there.. about as small as you can get is .357 , lots of cases that are that big at the neck..

pistol is easier to make for.. expecially the larger cal's, like 40, 45 and so on.

this is why i'm having pathfinder make me a special die to make 308's.. its a new design compared to anything else on the market. its made to split apart like a mold, so that the bullet can be removed without using an ejection pin from the top.

cant wait to get it in my hands.. i'll be sure to take pics for everyone once i do get it..

you can find one thats a little larger and make a draw die and punch. The punch would not be to much trouble. The die could be a problem. You can make your die by getting 7/8-14 all thread or "threaded Rod" cut it off to say 3" in length if you have access to a lathe then put it in a collet to get it running true if you dont use a v block and do it in a drill press. but make sure your drill is 90 deg to your drill chuck. then drill and ream through if you have a way of pressing the lead core in then you would want your jacket about .005 inch smaller than your finished round. if your pouring your lead in then you would want to draw it down to bore size that may take a little playing because the brass will spring back.

but if your using a rock chucker press then you could make a core seat punch and die for seating your core. the core seat die would be the bore size of your gun. the lead will keep the brass from springing back if you drew it down smaller than bore size
