AR15 "Exploded" View

The above link is from the Firearms Blogg and show what happens to AR's when pistol powder is "accidentally" switched for rifle powder. Ouch!

Wonder how much worst it would have been if it had been aluminum and not the cav polymer? Either way, I would not want to be the one shooting it....

That is why I am so adamantly opposed to using Pistol/shotgun powders in even reduced lead loads. its just way way too fast and that is the result. Just not worth it in my honest opinion.

I agree to a point... But there is a Huge difference between 7-8gr pf powder and 25gr of powder. Accidental double charges will definitely get you in trouble and are not as easy to spot in a larger rifle case.

This is why I will seat the bullet immediately after charging the case with powder on every type of ammo I reload, pistol and rifle. That way I know the case has powder in it and I know it has the correct amount. it may take a bit longer....but not too bad once you get a rhythm going.

I've got pictures of a USGI M16A2 that came apart just like that, if anyone is interested in seeing them. Supposedly, it was caused by a bore obstruction.
