Wonder how much worst it would have been if it had been aluminum and not the cav polymer? Either way, I would not want to be the one shooting it....

That is why I am so adamantly opposed to using Pistol/shotgun powders in even reduced lead loads. its just way way too fast and that is the result. Just not worth it in my honest opinion.

I agree to a point... But there is a Huge difference between 7-8gr pf powder and 25gr of powder. Accidental double charges will definitely get you in trouble and are not as easy to spot in a larger rifle case.
This is why I will seat the bullet immediately after charging the case with powder on every type of ammo I reload, pistol and rifle. That way I know the case has powder in it and I know it has the correct amount. it may take a bit longer....but not too bad once you get a rhythm going.

that is one expensive mistake i couldnt live with myself if i did something like that id sell out and find a new hobby!

I've got pictures of a USGI M16A2 that came apart just like that, if anyone is interested in seeing them. Supposedly, it was caused by a bore obstruction.
