Amazing results with factory ammo
Hey guys
Today i went to a friend of mine to go and shoot my brand new rifle+scope and i was totally amazed at the grouping i got from factory ammo. I can't wait to see what my reloads will look like .
Rifle : Ruger 308 win. M77 Hawkeye Standard Left hand. 1-10 twist and a barrel length of 22"
Scope : Nikon Fieldmaster 6-18x40 SF Nikoplex
Ammunition : Winchester Super X 150gr.
And the results is a 3 shot grouping of .359" at 100 meters (that's 110 yards)
The lowest one, was when i was still sighting in my scope.

The only reason you shot like that is because the world is coming to a end. Oh wait that was gonna happen 15 minutes ago, good group all is well

Re: Amazing results with factory ammo
Thanks guys.
I really didn't expect to get a "clover leave" with factory ammo. I do hope that i can achieve the same or even better then that with my own reloads.
Just waiting for the .308 win case length gauge + zip trim and a set of dies. If all goes according to plan i should be able to pick all of it up on Saturday. Then i will be able to go to the range next weekend with my own reloads

Now that's a clover leaf, with a little stem on it.......Great Shooting!
It ain't all the ammo doing that either Blade, you gotta be a cool hand Luke to shoot groups like that no matter how tight the weapon or the ammo is.

Thanks for the comments guys
I have been shooting when i was still in high school. One of the sports at our school was shooting with .22 LR Anchutz at about 25 yards if i remember correctly. There i learned trigger pull and breathing, which does help a lot.
There is one more thing to try and learn, well that may involve a to have a bit more balls then brains. Especially for me being a lefty, i can see my scope twitch every time my heart beats. I don't press the rifle into my shoulder to help with the recoil like most people do, i tend to back off stock from my shoulder. The stock barely touches my shoulder, which helps me to stay dead center on a target, while bench resting, even at 100 yards. And most of you guys know that a .308 has a bit of a kick to it. But i still love it

That darn heart beat will ruin your groups every time,LOL. When shooting with a t-shirt on, this is very noticeable....the crosshairs will move quit bit from the pulse... I've started using a rear bag and like you, barely make contact on the shoulder with the buttstock.

I haven't noticed that, but i'll sure to have a look next time. It is winter over here anyways, so, most shooting will be done with a jacket on.
I also use a rear bag, works like a charm.
