First coyote to start the winter season off right
Here's the first fawn killer to kick off the winter predator control program I started many moons ago. It's a real small club that I belong to with only 1 member............ME!
Well, somebody has to do it and I love hunting coyotes! I called this one in the other evening using a few challenge howls from an open reed Primos Double Whammy call, and evidently this male dog just couldn't stand it cause he came charging in just seconds after I put the call back inside my jacket. I was waiting for him to stop, but he kept coming in at steady trot in a semi circle from my right to left so I just lead him with the crosshairs and basically just let him trot into them. Shot went right through the shoulder and exited through the armpit on the opposite side. He died instantly.
That's my Stevens (Savage) model 200 camo .22-250 with camo Nikon Prostaff 3x9x40 I'm holding in the pic. Bullet was a 60gr. Nosler Partition over 38.5gr of H380 zipping along at a comfortable 3,800fps. .............it hits somewhat like a bolt of lightning on coyotes. This was my first time using this bullet on coyotes and it did exactly what I had hoped it would do...........minimize the pelt damage. One tiny little hole in and an exit hole about the size of a nickel.
If you look right at the point on the shoulder of the coyote you can see a small spot of blood there, that's the shot. And yes XBones I know I'm not smiling but at least I'll post a damn pic for yall to look at unlike some of these other guys who just leave you hanging and hope you can use your imagination.
