Gotta be 21 years old to buy some rifles?

Carters Country is a gun and hunting store with four locations in the Houston area. They put an ad in the Houston Chronicle every Thursday in the sports section. I noticed that this week the ad said you had to 21 to buy two of the rifles. Here is the ad. Look down toward the bottom middle of the ad. The DPMS rifle and the Weatherby shotgun.

Did a new law pass for something? I thought is was 18 for rifles?

Must be something to do with the "pistol" grips on them....non-sporting or whatever other BS that might be implied. No laws that I know of, might just be the stores policy.

Are you sure your not in Commiefornia ?? We have all kinds of wonderful gun laws that save us from are terrible selfs.

Maybe a call to the NRA will help straighten this out

its the pistol grip. ... Makes it ugly. and intimidating. LOL everyone knows that Black guns Chrome pistols and pistol grip shotguns are more deadly than the standard variety LMAO.

I was going to go with the pistol grip. Also, for the ar, I am thinking because it is an ar "assult" rifle. When I bought mine, I had to show a voters registration card or some form of id to prove I was American Citizen. I know you can vote at 18, not saying that is the reason alone. My wife, being from Canada and only a perm. resident, she isn't allowd to purchase an "assult" rifle. She can however have a conceal handgun permit and buy any other firearm she wants to o.O

I am guessing the pistol grip myself. Dunno, would be a good question to call that place and just say hey, thought rifles were 18 and handguns 21, can you please explain??

Wonder if that just might be a store policy??? I believe even tho it has a pistol grip and is an assult weapon, it is still concidered a long gun....

It's a store policy because in TX its 18 for long guns and 21 for handguns.

Neither of the guns that were mentioned are "Handguns"
