Check your new hornady manuals
...to see if there is data listed for 300AAC Blackout using the Hornady 208gr AMAX with either W296 or Lil Gun powder...I wanna try some subsonics.

Sorry man, I don't have the latest issue.
If all else fails you could send them a E-mail. The times I have they have been rather quick with there responses.

I sent Hornady an email. Just hoped someone had the newest manual that could do a quick lookup. 300 whisper data will also work.

This is a good starting point http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.asp
Hornady 8th Edition (2010) didn't have it in my load book

The Hodgdon data is what I was going to back up to, if I can't find any published data for the 208gr AMAX. I'll use the 220gr data and work up or down from there....
I made a dummy round with a 208gr Amax....looks pretty neat with that long pointy bullet sticking out of that short stubby case.

Re: Check your new hornady manuals
Someone just past this bit of info on to me....I'm really liking what this 300blackout project will be able to do...
If you want a fun and quiet load pick up some Hornady XTP 30 Caliber (309 Diameter) 90 Grain JHPs. Start with 5 grains of trail boss then adjust the powder charge until you have no sonic crack. These are like shooting 22 CB shorts in a 22 rifle, very quiet and they expand on game at 1000 f/s. They will put a smile on your face.
Sounds like an excellent pest control round to me
I know what is going on the shopping list next time I'm out and about looking for supplies.

Wish you luck, sounds like them 90gr JHP's would be cool to try. Prob not much noise at all out thru a can.

Here it is, forever on ATG for safe keeping...
I have already loaded up 10 of the 208gr AMAX's with 9gr of Lil Gun. I'm guessing that will be borderline sonic/subsonic. Crack or no crack...that is the question.

Using Lil'Gun we have a start of 6.7gr and a max of 11.4gr. Using Win 296 we have a start of 7.5gr and a max of 11.7gr. Both of the powders were tested at a C.O.L. of 2.250 and those mins and max charges were between 1000 to 1400 feet per second.
