Hey all, is there any difference in small rifle BR primers for 223/556?

BR primers are supposed to be more consistent and are inspected for small defects and held to a higher quality standard.

Never used them myself...but if they were all I could find, I would.

I have read the same thing about them being more consistant. I have used them for my bolt guns and had great success with them. I never used them for ammo loaded for my ar, but have only ever used standard small rifle primers for my ar ammo. As said before if its all you can get don't hesitate using them.

One thing I have noticed with the BR primers is when using some powders that are temperature sensitive I have a more consistent ignition in cold weather. I have thought about using the BR primers in the cold months for my competition ammo for my ar, but never did yet. All my hunting ammo gets loaded with BR primers.

I have used Rem BR primers for years they do a good job. I load a lot of 223 for killing paper and like taking out the bull eye when we do.

I have read and been told not to use BR primers in AR type platforms due to the potential for slam fires. So be careful if you decide to try it.

I have used them in AR for 3 years and NO slam fires. I always check to see that any primer is set right { NO high primers }

I use Rem 7 1/2 primers in my AR and have no issues. I used to have a chart that showed the cup thickness of rifle primers and Rem 7 1/2, CCI SR magnums, and the CCI 41's all had the same cup thickness. I also saw a side by side primer comparison and Rem 7 1/2 primers had the largest flame.
