Barrel threading...need help
anyone here able to do a barrel threading job? I need a barrel blank turned (chamber end) with a thread pitch of 1-14 for a Enfield smle project I have been wanting to do. I would also need a matching barrel nut/locking collar similar to what Savage uses.
I have been trying to obtain a pre-threaded barrel through another source, but they have yet to return any emails or calls.
I'll have a 20" blank....so that gives you about 3-1/2" to mess with...as long as it doesn't end up shorter than 16 1/2" ,it's all good.
if not...I'll keep floating the boat I've been in,lol.

I dont have enough expierence. I do have a friend that has a lathe at home that is huge. It is a grizzley and they call it the gunsmith model something like that. Anyhow, he is always chambering barrels and things like that. Let me get up with him and see what I can get worked out...

That would be great!
The barrel blanks are only $33.00 each...so even if you want to practice,it's no big loss, lol.
Some info to pass on to him....the blanks are 20" long and 1" in diameter. The Enfield threads is 14 v pitch with a stub diameter of .997"....he might even have a book that gives him more info...
Thanks DW!

If you can't get ahold of him...no biggie, this has been a project on the back burner for the past couple years anyway....I also have been thinking of going a different direction with it.
Thanks for trying.

what is your SMLE project???? I have three SMLE's two in 303 and one in 308 nato....
I was thinking in the future of doing something with them to get away from the 303 since it is becoming obsolete..... I really like my smelly actions...
I could get rid of them but the 303's, one is a hunter and the other is a jungle carbine and the ishy 2A in 308 nato was converted into a jungle carbine style...

Re: Barrel threading...need help
I've always wanted to convert one to a 45acp...sort of a Delisle Copy. There was two companies making the conversion kits...one guy no longer makes them and the other won't return emails or calls.
My other option was using a Mauser action...and I have one (Spanish 93) around somewhere that isn't strong enough to build into a decent rifle, but should be plenty strong for a 45acp.
It might not ever happen, But it doesn't hurt to dream ,does it?

dreaming is good..... but I have so many other projects and still have about a thousand or so 303 british rounds.... so this would be an option for a later time...
