You will need the barrel fitted to the slide with the correct barrel link and pin . Alittle more than drop in .
You will also have a lot of tweeking of your mags , still haven't perfected mine 100% and been messing with it off and on for 6 years .
Wish you luck !

I built a 1911 into a 400 corbon...fun to shoot, expensive to feed. Of course that was before I got into reloading too...

There will be alot of tweaking to do as notenoughguns mentioned....I ended up selling off the upper half of that pistol. I guess I satisfied the curiosity I had with the 400 corbon and moved on... I'm happy with my 45acp and 40cal.

Dart we have been looking at the same barrels!!!

While I would love to buy one of those barrels and have my gunsmith make a new upper for my Series 80 NM Gold Cup, at this time I am more likely to get a .40 S&W barrel for my T/C Contender (or maybe the Encore pistol) and have my 'smith bore it to .400 Corbon.

Of course I will have him cut a rim around the chamber mouth so I can use .454 brass or trimmed .460 S&W.

I have seen several battered el-cheapo .45s made into some real stompers in both .400 Corbon and .460 Roland by the talented 'smiths around here.

If I want something that heavy though - I think I will not mind it in a single shot. Another T/C option might be to buy one of the cheap .40-38 barrels I see floating around and have it bored to .400 Corbon.

For the price of a custom T/C barrel in .40 S&W and the work by the 'smith - you can get a well used cheap .45 to start as the base for a .400 Corbon build.

That would be fun. I have seen some of the cheaper Mexican knock-offs, and some of the other cheaper 1911s like the Llamas made into some real nice .400 Corbon & .460 Rolands.

Outside my area of expertise but I wish you good luck and post some pics here when you get the pistol made.

Hey Dart...If it's one of those Roto--something barrels...they are made pretty good and look good. That is what I built the 400 I had with.

I did have to custom fit the bushing to the barrel...but that might depend on the bushing you use too. I also had to shorten mine to commander length....at least you don't have to go through that trouble.

Overall, you can't beat the price Smile

I found an old pic of it...it's not the best, but it's something.

400 cor-bon barrel 1911co10

The frame was a 80% frame that I had to finish machining. The slide was a Caspian forged stainless...I used the "melt" type barrel bushing and Millet sights. I also used a matched hammer and sear and ambi safety from Chip Mccormick .The grip safety, mainspring housing are Wilson combat and other small parts are all Ed brown. The trigger is STI. The frame still lives on under a single shot upper.

I will never waist time on finishing a unfinished frame again....It costs more in the long run and was actually too expensive to begin with. One of those things I had to try ,I guess...

wow that looks awsome yea i thought i had see that before that is the single shot frame that is wicked man id love to watch you at work your gunsmithing skills are sick lol i want to so something a little less bling and alot cheaper i found a build kit less frame for $210 it comes with everything less frame obviously i want to get the $90 RIA parkirized frame and build everything else to gi spec (all the parts included in the kit) minus the barrel would be 400 corbon kind of a sleeper if you well ( car lingo ) i think it would be cool it would be in the 400 range by the time i am done and i think i can do all the fitting myself im pretty comfortable wiht the 1911 now iv completely tore mine down and put it back together a dozen times the first time i had a little trouble get the sear and disconector lined up but im good to go now!

exacty! ... A sleeper, lol. Looks plain jane on the outside with alot of power where it counts Smile

If anything...get the frame, slide, barrel, barrel link and pin, slide release and barrel bushing. That way you can put all that together. As long as you can get all that to work smoothly when you rack it open and closed...you will be well on your way.....then move on to the hammer,sear,disconnector,etc...
