bullet swaging question

does anyone here swage for 357-358 dia bullets if so i was wondering what fo you use for jackets when i get my 45 dies if they work like i think they will i think i may order the 357-358 dies i could put them to good use iv got a 35 rem and dad had a 38 and you never now when i may pick up a 38/357 lol iv been thinking about it i got a few ideas but i wanted to see what yall use? one worry is that they wont fly good in my 35 rem its a 358 dia the 357-358 pistol bullets are a little different than rifles im not sure if i could make a good rifle bullet from these dies! what do yall think?

well Dart there is two things you could do. 1 Negotiate with Bill for some of his tube jackets or two use 9mm brass

if you really hawk ebay you can find old 38 jackets on there I have not been able to find any yet that i think is worth the money people are just nuts when it comes to that stuff they pay more than you can just go buy it new for. Well they are new but you know what i mean.
I forgot to say Corbin MFG sells jackets but OMG they are expensive. Sometimes Dr blackmon has them

My bad again. didnt look and see that you was talking about your 35 rifle. Dont know if they would fly that true or not. Do you have a 38 or 357 pistol so you could use them anyway if they dont.

The same jackets will work though for rifles the copper will expand that much more when you seat your bullet.

Same jacket should work for 9mm 38 or 35 rifle. I could be wrong but dont think so.

Yes dads got a 38 I was thinking about trying to make the copper tubing jackets see how it works I don't have my 45 yet just trying to think ahead lol

You cold also use 380acp, 9x18 mak. and trimmed down 223. 9mm would be the cheapest to use.....but if you come scross a bunch of worthless berdan primed cases at the range, you'll know what to do with them.

hey 223 now thats an idea they should be long enough that i could get enough weight out of them to fly in my rifle thats what im worried about with the 9mm anything under 200 grain doesnt seem to be really accurate iv done some testing with 158 grain xtps and they dont fly worth a crap lol they absoultly xplode when they hit but the best group i got was probably 3 inch at 100

Make sure they are berdan primed 223's. If you don't your daddy gonna beat you behind the wood shed you using up 223 brass whe he now has an AR and can use those to load with!!!!

I'm sure he'll let you have the damaged or worn out cases too Dart...so it isn't a total loss.

lol yea thats true i was also thinking old 223 that have been loaded alot or are cracked a little i know those smaller neck cases are more prone to cracking

9mm has a case head diameter of .391 - not good for 38/357 but for 40 cal, it is right in there.

223 has a case head diameter of .377

If you use them then you will have to draw them down.

A 30 carbine case head diameter is .357. just in case you were wondering
