Have you tried this place?
http://www.vtigunparts.com/store/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=78&cat=ASM+2nd+Model+Dragoon
I wonder if a main spring from a Uberti would work...since they are all copies of the same Colt Dragoon.
Nice exploded view for your viewing pleasure.

Re: need a part for a blackpowder pistol
That sucks....You might end up making one to fit from another manufacturer. I've never played around with the old Colt BP's....I'm a remington 1858 fan.
I sold my 1858 to fund another project. Now I'm looking for a 1858 with a 5-1/2 barrel to convert to 45LC.
I hope you can find what you need...BP revolvers are a blast in more than one way

Re: need a part for a blackpowder pistol
yeah that is what i was thinking..... fabing one up from another spring...
I really like the conversion cylinders to go from the blackpowder to center fire 45lc for these but dang they are expensive!!!!

Re: need a part for a blackpowder pistol
Yeah the cyclinders are not worth it if you buy a bp gun and a cyclinder to convert it. But if you already have the gun....it's not so bad.
Taylor now sells pre-converted revolvers and I think Cimarron(sp) does too.
They can be found for under $500 ready to go in multiple calibers...from 38 special, 45LC and even 44-20.
I'm looking into a 38special 1858....I'm waiting to hear back on the bore specs on the barrels...since they were originally 36 calibers.

Re: need a part for a blackpowder pistol
do you have a link to the Taylor???? i have only really dealt with dixie gun works for blackpowder stuff and they do not have this part either.....
the conversion cylinder for my dragoon was like $250.00
seems like a lot for a pistol i originally spent $150.00 on....

Could it be the same as the Walker Colt? Numrich has some of the Armi San Marco gun parts. http://www.gunpartscorp.com/catalog/Products.aspx?catid=9079

Take a look at their 1871-1872 open top Colt revolvers. Multiple calibers available on these too....and they originally are the first cartridge guns colt made, so not conversions done on these babies.

Re: need a part for a blackpowder pistol
I heard back from Taylors on their 38sp conversion pistols. They are barreled for 38 special not the original 36cal....that's a plus.
