Re: Ruger SR1911
The new Ruger looks nice. Hickok45 reviewed it and liked it so it cant be bad. Since he is a 1911 guy. Colt mainly, like me. Well me on the other hand (only 16 by the way) am old school. I have 2 Colt 1911 and 2 Springfields. Series 80 MkIV Colt Gold Cup Springfield TRP(My favorite) and Long slie springfield(that i wanna sell). Kimber makes fine pistols too. Also do the custom makers like Ed Brown, Wilson, etc... All these new companies like Taurus and RIA are cheap junk(My opinion dont get offended). Ive handled and shot both and hate both of them. There just a cheap knock off for someone to own a 1911. Just drop the cash for something of better quality. But I do find the new rugers quite nice. Look forward to getting my hands on one. Again im biased and this is my opionion so Im sorry if I offende anyone.

Re: Ruger SR1911
Guitar, everyone has their own opinion on what they like. I just have to disagree with ya for the most part. I happen to own a Taurus 1911 and know quite a few that do as well, and they are a long way away from being junk. I myself have had dealings with "other brands" (no brand bashing so I won't say names) and I have to say, I would much rather keep my Taurus. I am looking forward to the Ruger and would not mind checking it out myself. MSRP is 799.00 so I look for these to be price right about the same as the Taurus and would not mind having the best of both worlds....

If this Ruger turns out to be a quality piece....they will be hard to get your hands on.

Re: Ruger SR1911
oh now i gotta get in on this one... i have one of those Ria which just happends to be 100% compatiable with colt any thing on your 2 colts or your 2 springfields are exactly the same parts on Ria in fact i when i was looking for my 1911 i was talking to a gunsmiths who builds 1911 race guns i was looking at a springfield gi 1911a1 we got to talking and he said he would take a RIA over a springfield kimber or ed brown he build a ria that (in his words) out shoot my kimber and ed brown this guy now his 1911s he has them all and he said he preferd the ria over any of them!

Re: Ruger SR1911
I wouldn't be too worried about the cast frame the Ruger SR1911 has either. The 1911 I built myself a few years back had a stainless cast frame and a stainless forged Caspian slide....a small piece of the guide rail, just behind the safety notch, broke off on the slide after about a years worth of use.....but the frame lives on

Re: Ruger SR1911
ahem before y'all get your panties up in a bunch the guy said it was his opinion and Opinions are like Back Holes every one has one. and every one is untitled to his own. I too prefer a Colt but at this time I cant afford one. Kimbers are sweet too but again I cant afford one. Wilson makes a sweet 1911 but again I cant afford one.. well i suppose I could afford one if I saved up all my pennies for one. But the thread is on the Ruger I know Ruger makes good pistols I own one and love it. NOT THE SR1911 But others. I have never had a bad Ruger maybe that will change. RI makes good pistols and the 1911 design has been around for over a hundred years now. I know not every one making a 1911 is making good ones Personally I hate my sons Springfield GI I know others would love it to me its an inaccurate pos. JMO But then I am a Colt Gold cup fan. Right now I don't own a 1911 I will get one some day I have considered a Remington R1 or perhaps a Sr1911 I even am chewing on the smith & wesson I haven't ruled anyone out yet. LOL I say buy what you like and let the others go by along with their opinions. However if someone comes along that you respect then you may want to listen unless you don't mind making someone elses' mistakes.
