Scope rings

I have a mini 14 ranch in .223 the factory rings are 1.025". They will not hold a 1" scope. I would like input on the best way to fix this. A little foil, shim, friction paper or should I lap the faces with some fine grit sand paper? Any help is welcome.

Maybe you could you wrap a piece of electrical tape around the scope to act as a shim.

Small piece of masking tape on either the top or bottom portion of the rings or both. Don't put the tape on the scope. Electrical tape will work too, But it tends to become gooey

I'd call Ruger and make em send you a new set.

yeah, before you buggar them up trying to make them work, like i would, see if ruger will replace em. they should without a problem. factory 1in rings should be 1in.

Try cutting some shims out of a coke can works great, does not have to be a coke can any soda can will do.

If they're not the ruger style and rather the weaver style (Idk your specific gun very well). If they're weaver, I have a pair of ~1" that I'd give you for free.

The above options sound good. I've had to shim them in the past. Results were questionable though.
