I want a gas cutoff valve on my SKS, make it bolt action
My SKS does not have this gas cutoff valve. I want to be able to make my SKS a single shot or bolt action sometimes, like when I am tired of chasing brass.

Here is a video that shows the valve that my SKS does not have.


Looks like this guy got his SKS to be single shot/bolt action. But I cannot tell what he did.


Could I plug the hole in the barrel with Cosmoline? So what options do I have?

just pull the piston out of the gas tube.

thats what i was thinking!
but wouldnt the gases blow back it your face without the piston?

if you look at the front of the gas tube you will see two holes in it. that will help bleed off most of the gas. i have done this many times on both of my SKS's when shooting reloadable brass with no ill effects. HTH
